(SAC)
Self-Access Center is the main resource centre of School of Foreign Languages. It is not simply a lending library, but it is also a learning centre where you can attend a variety of activities to practice English from tutorials to language competitions and games. The first rule of the centre is to communicate in English, so you must speak English for any purpose to visit the centre.
SAC's mission is to go beyond conventional language education so that students are able to gain new experiences in language education and develop a sense of self-responsibility in the development of their own language skills.
It is aimed for students to develop their language skills autonomously. Our centre provides opportunities to study the languages that are widely spoken around the world, as well as English. For this reason, the environment is organized in this centre where students can improve their skills in many different languages. Moreover, our centre operates to improve students' core language skills in an academic atmosphere, from its design and resources to the activities and the opportunities it offers. For this purpose, studies are carried out so that students can improve their four basic skills in the target language. Our centre is equipped with different resources in order to contribute to their reading and writing skills. For these two basic skills, computer-assisted opportunities and training meetings are planned. For students' listening and speaking skills, computers are available to enable students to access online resources. Furthermore, there is a TV broadcast in our centre so that the target language channels can be followed continuously. Workshops will be another tool to create opportunities for students. With the help of these workshops, the interaction between students will be strengthened and the self-confidence of students in language use will be improved. Through workshops where an academic discussion environment will be created with the participation of experts in their fields, students will be able to test their language skills in an academic atmosphere. In this centre, the student societies operating in our university organize activities such as meetings, seminars, and presentations. Thus, students will have the opportunity to contribute to their language skills in multidimensional ways. As a result, in this centre where learner- autonomy is targeted, students will take a new step for their foreign language skills.
In accordance with the vision of the internationalized university, the vision of this centre is to continuously contribute to the academic abilities of its students. SAC aims to help students by presenting regular facilities to make them more confident about languages and fluent in different languages. In this student-oriented center, our vision is to lead the education of students and help them for being noticed in Turkey and all over the world. In this way, it is aimed to meet the necessities of being a utilitarian, pioneering, and dynamic university in versatile and innovative ways and to be able to contribute to the vision of our university.
