Karabük University School of Foreign Languages was inspected by Eaquals in 2019 and met the high standards required for Eaquals accreditation. The teaching, the course programmes, the course organisation, the learning resources, testing and evaluation were all judged to be of high quality, as well as points of excellence are identified in the following categories;

Management and Administration

Management and Administration is an area of excellence because there is evidence of a proactive strategy of institutional improvement, and an aspiration to improve its quality and reputation locally and nationally. All staff and students are consulted and included on a regular basis regarding institutional improvements. There is marked evidence of a readiness to innovate and  strong leadership and exceptional willingness to delegate. There is awareness and practice of an holistic and rounded approach to the education of young adults, in addition to their need to acquire the required English level. There are highly effective administrative systems, including the use of efficient IT and e-platforms

Course Design and Supporting Systems

Course Design and Supporting Systems are excellent because there is detailed reference to the CEFR in planning documentation and clear descriptions of learning programmes are communicated to instructors and learners. Course maps are monitored and reviewed and support and advice are offered to both instructors and learners. The Portfolio assists in developing learner independence and autonomy, in line with stated curriculum aims. There is an exceptional degree of delegation of academic management and administration, which assists in the support of the large number of instructors and students.

Assessment and Certification

Assessment and Certification is an area of excellent because assessment reflects and is procedurally aligned with course objectives and  there are measures in place to ensure validity, reliability and fairness of assessment through dedicated assessment and standardisation units. There is a range of assessment types including formative and summative assessment and learner self-assessment. 
Client Services 

Client Services are excellent because the institution  provides outstanding support for students via the Student Affairs office and the instructors’ consultation system. The Social and Academic Events Unit offers an attractive and very popular programme, including the afternoon clubs and Owls newsletter.

Quality Assurance

Quality Assurance is an area of excellence because there is a culture of quality improvement and ongoing development. There is an exceptional range of procedures for obtaining feedback from learners and staff which informs and influences programme innovation and improvement, all of which is communicated to stakeholders.

Staff Profile and Development

Staff Profile and Development  is excellent due to a rich programme of in-house training with input from outside trainers and consultants, and many contributions from the institution’s staff. Creativity and initiative are encouraged. There are opportunities to attend outside training events and conferences and the institution  supports staff undertaking professional development through funding, and allowing time off from teaching.

Internal Communications

Internal Communications  are excellent  because there is regular use of an effective mix of informal and formal means of communication, and two-way communication and consultation between all staff as a matter of policy as well as  involvement of all staff in institutional operations and developmental decision-making.
