Within the framework of the ‘Foreign Language is not Foreign to Karabük’ sub-project within the scope of the Education City Karabük Project carried out by Karabük Provincial Directorate of National Education under the auspices of Karabük Governorship, Karabük Çamkent Secondary School Foreign Languages and eTwinning club organised a working visit to our School of Foreign Languages in order for the students to learn about the foreign languages taught in universities and to participate in the lessons and make observations. This working visit provided a great opportunity for the students to understand the importance of foreign language learning, to experience the language teaching processes carried out at different levels of education and to gain a vision for their future goals.
Within the scope of the visit, the students who had a meeting with the Director of the School of Foreign Languages Assist. Prof. Dr. Mustafa POLAT and Vice Director Dr. Lecturer Kürşat Arslan about the importance of learning a foreign language, also attended Lecturer Nazan CANBULAT's class and had the opportunity to make observations.
During the visit, which was also attended by Çamkent Secondary School Vice Director Ercan AKSOY, English Teachers Fatma ÖKTEN and Filiz BAYHAN, students were informed about Erasmus projects and what can be done to produce joint projects was evaluated. The Director Dr. POLAT stated ‘In addition to education and research activities, community service practices are also an important mission undertaken by our University. Within the framework of this mission, we fully support all initiatives that aim to cooperate with all stakeholders, especially educational institutions in our city, and to support all initiatives aimed at expanding the horizons of our students who represent our future."
At the end of the visit, the teachers said, "Our students experienced the excitement of being in a university environment as well as learning about the School of Foreign Languages’ approach to language education, academic opportunities and international projects. We believe that such activities will increase the motivation of Çamkent Secondary School students to learn foreign languages and make a positive contribution to their future education processes."
