Foreign Language Department Students from Emek Secondary School visited the School of Foreign Languages


Students from the 5th grade of Safranbolu Emek Secondary School, who choose to study foreign languages, visited Karabük University School of Foreign Languages.

During the visit, the students were accompanied by the Director of the School of Foreign Languages Assist. Prof. Dr. Mustafa POLAT, Vice Director Dr. Lecturer Kürşat Arslan, Vice Director Lecturer Hüseyin Ataseven and Vice Head of Foreign Language Preparatory Department Dr. Lecturer Okan Dede welcomed the students.

 

School Director Assist. Prof. Dr. Mustafa POLAT, made a presentation to the students about the organisations held at Karabük University and the importance of learning a foreign language. In his presentation, Dr. Polat stated that learning a foreign language opens the door to communicating worldwide and getting to know different cultures, and that this skill makes it easier to benefit from various educational opportunities around the world, to study at the world's best universities and to access international job opportunities.


 

Assist. Prof. Dr. POLAT pointed out that foreign language education is an important basis for the development of technological fields such as artificial intelligence, coding, software, cyber security and unmanned aerial vehicles. Emphasising that language education plays a key role in the development of domestic and national technologies, Polat stated that students' self-development in these fields will contribute to Türkiye's development in all areas of technology, especially in social sciences, health sciences and defence industry.


 

Within the scope of the programme, the school building was introduced to the students and the books in different languages in the library were examined. The students had the opportunity to ask their questions to the academicians and at the end of the programme, they received English books as a gift and were welcomed by Lecturer Nazan Canbulat's lecture and experienced the education environment. The visit offered secondary school students who prefer foreign language department the opportunity to understand the importance of foreign language education and to get to know Karabük University School of Foreign Languages closely. Assist. Prof. Dr. Mustafa POLAT said at the end of the event: With this meaningful event, on the one hand, it aimed to increase the motivation of secondary school students, who are the guarantee of our future, to learn a foreign language, and on the other hand, to contribute as part of the mission that our university has undertaken in line with the goals it has set in the context of community service and social responsibility.
